Look Carefully

We live among confident voices. A claim repeated often can begin to feel true before it has earned our trust. Proverbs describes prudence as careful attention to the road. Wise people consider where information came from and where following it may lead.

Prudence is moral as well as intellectual. Ideas shape choices, and choices create consequences. Before accepting advice, ask whether the source is credible, whether important details are missing, and whether the message agrees with the character of God revealed in Scripture.

Closer examination also belongs in personal decisions. A choice can offer quick relief while quietly moving us away from our values. Look beyond the immediate feeling. Consider the short and long consequences, the people affected, and the pattern this choice strengthens.

Careful thinking takes time, and urgency rarely enjoys being questioned. Give important decisions the dignity of a second look. Wisdom is often found in the detail we notice after the first emotional wave has passed.
